New Home owner tips: Every homeowner should take the time to locate their main shut off for their water and gas supply into their home. This will prove to be very important in the case of an emergency. Each plumbing fixture should have it's own shut off valve as well. Make yourself familiar with your mechanical closet. This is where your water heater and your furnace are located. These appliances will have gas shut off valves as well and can be turned off in case a gas leak occurs. Never stack any flammables in any mechanical room/closet in where there are any fuel fired appliances. This could prove to be deadly! See more safety tips below. You may notice that your new stool does not flush as well as your old stool may have. This is due to regulations on water consumption. There is not much that can be done to improve this. Some brands work better than others and your stools performance will be based on it's brand and model. Quieter stools tend not to flush as well as those manufactured without noise factor in mind. Regulations on water consumption will also affect your faucets and tub and shower valves. City codes also regulate the maximum water pressure supplied to your home. All of these factors create much dissatisfaction with many customers, but this has nothing to do with your plumber. Have you ever got blasted with hot or cold water while in the shower when someone flushes a stool? Well this will not happen in your new home because your tub and shower valves are a pressure balanced scald guard design. This eliminates temperature and pressure fluctuations. More tips will be added as time allows!
